There is one place that most visitors to California Borough wind up at — the Kwik Fill at Wood Avenue and Third Street.

The station offers gas, as well as convenience store items, including breakfast doughnuts and area newspapers.

Danielle Carolla, a California University of Pennsylvania student who commutes to campus, said visitors might want to consider one of her favorite pastimes, playing Frisbee or soccer on the turf near the Natali Student Center on campus.

She mentioned that she also enjoys morning jogs through campus. They give her time to reflect before she starts her day.

She  suggests keeping an eye our for exhibits at the Manderino Library’s art gallery and then grabbing dinner at Lagerheads, a restaurant in nearby Coal Center.

“Their wings are delicious,” Carolla said. “I feel bad after I eat them, but then I remember I can jog it off in the morning.”

She said that “Despite it being a small place, if you look hard enough or are creative, you can always find something to do.”

Then she headed to class.
